Move for Mel – MTC Fundraiser
You may be aware one of Maitland Triathlon Clubs members, Mel Sexton, is currently fighting Leukemia. As a long time member and supporter of our club, Melanie has been both a strong club person and outstanding sportsperson for the Maitland area. Melanie was a former Australian Junior champion and competed for many years at an elite level both locally and nationally. Melanie has been fighting a long battle with Leukemia and, as I am sure you can understand, this has taken both an emotional and financial toll on her and her family.
To assist her and her family we will be hosting a fundraising event ant our next club race on the 23rd November from Maitland pool starting at 7am (rego closes 6:30am for juniors and 6:45am for seniors).
To support us in our fundraising efforts we officially invite your club members / athletes and their families to join us in the festivities, or even better to come and race with us.
On the day we will have the usual races, juniors, intermediate, senior and the greatest race of all, the splash and dash. We will also be introducing a 4km fun run for those who would like to compete but maybe not up to a triathlon (this is a once off). In addition to these events we will have entertainment, food and drinks to allow you to make a day of it. Mel, Brendan Sexton and Aaron Royle have indicated they will join us also on the day (and maybe even race with the kids – TBC).
We will have,
- BBQ and drinks (for sale)
- Raffles – some excellent prizes (we will confirm ASAP but so far they look very good, Brendan and Aaron offering Australian Olympic and CommGames gear)
- Clowns for the kids
- Live music
- Coffee
As this is a fundraiser, we will be selling raffle tickets and we ask that if you have any prizes to offer or would like to sell some tickets on our behalf please let us know. Your club may simply like to make a donation (receipts will be provided).
Thanks, we look forward to seeing you all there.
